In support of the University's mission, the UVa Library has a long standing commitment to evolving digital stewardship, technologies and practices. The Library is seeking a software developer to join a team of curators, archivists, preservation specialists and technologists to make rare and unique materials freely available. The ideal candidate will have the following:
* 3+ years of software development experience, and 2+ years demonstrated experience developing web applications against MySQL
* Experience developing complex applications using Ruby on Rails and MySQL
* Strong customer service orientation
* Strong problem solving and analytical skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Education level: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline; equivalent and considerable related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences or related discipline preferred; equivalent combination of education and considerable related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
3+ years of software development experience, and 2+ years demonstrated experience developing web applications against MySQL
Experience with UNIX command language is desired.
Salary and Benefits:
Competitive depending on qualifications. This position has University Staff status with excellent benefits, including 22 days of vacation and TIAA/CREF and other retirement plans.
