The West Virginia University Libraries is looking for a Website and User Interface Designer to oversee graphic design of library websites, web application interfaces, and other web-based projects. Candidates should have good working knowledge of HTML and CSS and be familiar with Section 508 accessibility and usability requirements, principles of good design for the web, and responsive design. Creativity, initiative, good judgment, and the ability to communicate ideas clearly are required. Candidates should have a strong commitment to user-centered services and service excellence, as well as quality and innovative services. In this position, the candidate will be in charge of designing and conducting usability tests to ensure user-friendly design. Designing within the constraints of WVU website and branding requirements is a must. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment and will be able to work independently, as well as with members of a team. This position will report to the Senior Software Engineer in WVU Libraries and will work closely with the Multimedia and Web Services Librarian.This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Graphics Art or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must also have two years of experience in graphic design, specifically web design.
