The L. Mendel Rivers Library at Charleston Southern University invites applications for an Assistant Librarian in Digital Learning and Web Services. This 12-month, non-tenure track position carries faculty rank.Qualifications: Candidates must have an MLS or MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited program. The desirable candidate will also have experience with website design, information architecture, accessibility, and usability; familiarity with online course delivery and learning management systems, such as Blackboard; demonstrated understanding of best practices, current issues, and trends in web services, including social and mobile media and emerging technologies; demonstrated knowledge of current information literacy standards and practices; and highly effective communication skills. Professional experience in an academic library, provision of reference and instruction services, and provision of web services in a library setting are preferred.
Charleston Southern University seeks candidates for faculty positions who are professing Christians and who are committed to excellence in teaching and service. Candidates should support the goals of a strong liberal arts education and be willing to explore with students the integration of faith and learning.
Responsibilities: Participating in reference services, both in person and online; designing and managing the Library’s web presence; providing faculty-requested and library-designed instruction sessions; contributing to the development and implementation of the library’s instruction program; teaching a one-hour, credit-bearing course; serving as a liaison to academic departments as assigned. Some evening and weekend hours will be required.
