Position Available: The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. This is a 100%, twelve-month, tenure-system appointment.

Responsibilities: The University of Illinois Library seeks a collaborative, innovative, and service-oriented leader for the position of Associate University Librarian (AUL) for Library Information Technology.  This position reports to the University Librarian and Dean of Libraries, is a part of the Library senior management team, and works collaboratively with the AUL for Research, the AUL for Collections, and the AUL for User Services.  We seek a professional who views the library as an integral part of a top-tier research university, and who brings to the role a deep understanding of the evolving role of the library on campus, in higher education, and in the broader library and information science community.

The AUL for Library Information Technology will lead the development of information technology in the Library, participate actively in Library and campus IT governance stakeholder groups, and be responsible for leadership, management, and planning for the services and infrastructure in the Office of Library Information Technology (IT) which includes 25 FTE professionals in several functional areas:  IT Production Services—Help Desk, Infrastructure Management, Workstation & Network Support, Web Development; Software Development; Repository and Scholarly Communications; and Access & Discovery Support.

Qualifications:

Required: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Library and Information Science, Management Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience; significant leadership and administrative experience; thorough understanding of the dynamic academic technology environment; proven track record of successful budget management; commitment to mentoring and  support for staff professional development; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others in a team environment and within a complex and fluid organizational environment; evidence of excellent communication and analytical skills;  evidence of ability to perform research, publication, and service consonant with university standards for tenure at the level of Associate or Full Professor.
