Description
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for a University Library Technician for the Library department. This is a full-time, permanent staff position.Essential Job Duties: Assist with user research/usability studies using a variety of techniques (e.g. formal/informal usability testing, online surveys, card sorting, interviews, observations, focus groups, participatory design).
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a four-year college or university; or high school and four years of library experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: Degree in computer science, visual design, interactive design, or equivalent experience plus experience in an academic library setting. Proficiency with usability testing software such as Morae, is desired. Experience designing and/or evaluating library systems or other complex websites. Experience designing and/or evaluating mobile interfaces. Experience with a variety of user research/usability methods. Familiarity with web accessibility standards and coding techniques. 3+ years of user-centered and/or product design, including mobile design. Expert with wireframe tools, such as Omnigraffle, Photoshop, Framebox, and/or gliffy. Expert with graphic design tools, such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. Proficiency with usability testing software such as Morae or Silverback is desired. Experience designing and/or evaluating library systems or other complex websites. Experience with HTML/CSS and knowledge of more advanced front-end technologies. Prototyping experience a big plus. Familiarity with web analytics analysis. Experience with web analytics analysis. Certified Usability Analyst. Excellent communication skills, both written and presentations. Confidence to speak authoritatively on principles of usability and user-centered design. Demonstrated ability to create high-quality user experience documentation, including wireframes and interaction specifications. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills and strong report writing skills.
