Computer Systems Consultant

Description

We have an opportunity for a service-oriented computer systems consultant to join the Library to assist with providing services to staff and students.

You will be responsible for maintaining and upgrading Library technology support systems. In addition, you will provide specialist advice and support and take part in special projects designed to advance the Library’s technology development. This will include monitoring and evaluation of local computer and network security and identifying, analysing and evaluating library hardware and software requirements. You will work with the Systems Librarian to develop and customise library technology systems which interact with the Library Management System (LMS). The Library intends to implement a new LMS in 2015.

You will have a tertiary computer qualification. A university degree or a current Microsoft Certified Professional qualification would be an advantage. In addition you will have experience with Linux/Unix operating systems, system development administration and knowledge of web applications eg, Java, XML and PHP. You will be prepared to learn about current trends and issues in library technology and apply these locally.
