Following a reorganisation, the University of Waikato Library has a vacancy for someone to lead a newly formed team in its Information Resources section. This is a unique opportunity to form new teams, develop their workflows and future-proof their services.

The newly formed Library Systems Team incorporates Cataloguers, Serials Team members (excluding print serials check-in), Interlibrary Loans and Technical Support Services. The Team is responsible for maintaining and developing library information systems, servers, web development, e-resource and license management, subscriptions and orders for e-resources, digitisation, resource description, payments and financial reporting. An initial focus of this team is to prepare for the changes in practices and workflows that will follow the expected introduction of a new library management system in 2015.

You will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for the Team, overall administration of the Library’s information systems and technology and for identifying and reporting on trends in these areas, ensuring an integrated, effective and efficient experience for Library users. You will have proven team and project management skills and the demonstrated ability to manage and / or design library systems, website development, digitisation, and document delivery systems. You will be a good written and verbal communicator with proven ability to express technical concepts in plain language.

To take on this exciting position you will have a formal qualification in librarianship and a university degree.
