Position Summary:Primary focus will be the administration of Linux and Windows servers as member of a team that supports the staff, librarians, and students within the Libraries. Responsibilities include: administration of MariaDB SQL servers including assisting developers with SQL related issues; will manage Windows domain; maintains SAN storage system and backups; will administer virtual machines in Hyper-V; will manage firewall policies; will perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years of college, technical, vocational or business school such as an associate's degree in computer technology or information systems, with coursework in an information technology specialization; more than one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area; experience administering GNU/Linux servers from the command line; experience with IP networking and firewall management, administering Windows and Active Directory 2008/2012; experience with tape backup systems; experience of SAN based storage architecture, managing Samba software; experience administering MySQL/MariaDB servers; experience in database normalization with knowledge of proper use of SQL data types, indexes, and foreign keys; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in computer technology or information systems, with coursework in an information technology specialization; experience in creating administration scripts (Bash, PERL, Python, or PowerShell); experience with AMANDA Network Backup software, StorNext SAN software; knowledge of fibre channel networking; familiar with virtualization software; understanding of SQL query optimization for large datasets and use of SQL triggers.
