Job Description
The Digital Resources Librarian is responsible for managing the University’s new Digital Repository, including soliciting exemplary student work from faculty, collaborating extensively with other University departments, and educating faculty about the benefits of open-access resources for research. He or she will also assist in implementing and providing instruction in the use of new digital technologies for library staff and Arcadia faculty. The Library has an active faculty liaison program, in which this individual participates by offering current awareness, student research training, and assistance with scholarship to the Art and Design Departments. Arcadia’s Landman Library promotes an environment where creativity and innovation are highly valued. The Digital Resources Librarian participates in library planning and governance, University committees and task forces; engages in campus, regional and national professional organizations and collaborative activities; is expected to be professionally active, representing the Library and the University in the academic, scholarly, and professional community.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manages Arcadia’s Digital Repository (ScholarWorks@Arcadia.edu), including soliciting exemplary material for depositing from students, faculty and other University departments
• Educates Arcadia faculty and staff about open-access publishing, including its advantages for academic research.
• Investigates technologies that will improve resources and develops instructional resources, when appropriate.
• Supports the teaching and learning mission of the Library through engagement with academic community.
• Demonstrates a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field of library and information science, as well as the application of technology to the teaching and learning process.
• Plans, develops, teaches and helps assess library and information literacy instruction.
•  Collaborates with departmental faculty to assess effectiveness and strength of collection in assigned subject disciplines.
• Assists students and faculty with research needs; demonstrates strong knowledge of current databases, technology and search strategies.
• In collaboration with Arcadia faculty and Librarians, assists with collection assessment, development and management.

Required Qualifications: MLS from accredited library school; knowledge of, and commitment to open-access philosophy; strong service orientation; experience implementing current information technologies, including social media; knowledge of research strategies; teaching ability; excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and function in a collegial, teamwork-oriented environment which emphasizes customer service and delivery of exemplary library research services. Knowledge of effective student engagement strategies and willingness to learn and grow as a professional.

Preferred qualifications: A minimum of two years professional academic library or related experience; teaching experience; ability to assist faculty and students with technology. Passion for teaching and learning.
