Responsibilities include monitoring and assessing technological developments in libraries and higher education and recommending adoption of new technologies that will contribute to the increased effectiveness and usability of digital library services and promote relationships with library users. This individual will also identify and coordinate the implementation of strategies to maximize the effective use of available technologies to meet the needs of library users and library personnel; and participate in research and liaison services including instruction, outreach activities, and collection development.  The Emerging Technologies Librarian is a member of the Digital and Support Services Department, but this position also contributes to the information discovery, information literacy, research, instruction, and other public service activities and services of the Information Delivery and Information Literacy Services Department.  S/He will reports to the Head of Digital and Support Services.

Required Qualifications: ALA-accredited master's degree by hire date. Experience or coursework in reference and research services and information literacy instruction. Evidence of relevant work and/or educational experience for the requirements of the position. Significant knowledge and understanding of digital services and emerging technologies and their integration into an academic library environment. Demonstrated proficiency and understanding of the principles of information architecture and web site design including some experience with HTML and maintaining web page content. Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
