Archives Intern
Crain Communications Inc is one of the largest privately-owned business publishers in the US with over 28 different business, trade and consumer publications and websites within North America, Europe and Asia. The Archives Intern will assist the Project Archivist in digitizing the historical corporate asset collection. Responsibilities include but are not limited to organizing and preparing assets, scanning flat documents, bound volumes and microfilm, and re-shelving completed projects. This position requires 20-25 hours of work per week.
Responsibilities and tasks:
• Prepare original assets for scanning
• Operate a variety of scanning equipment
• Post scan image processing and indexing
• Verify image quality, proofread meta data
• Organize pre- and post-scan work flows
Qualifications:
• Experience with scanning
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop
• Excellent organizational skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• A flexible team member that is able to learn quickly and take initiative
• A minimum of 2 years experience with all Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to lift and move boxes up to 40 lbs.
