Description

Kent State University Libraries seeks an experienced support analyst for its Systems Department. The Senior Applications Support Analyst will configure and maintain the circulation services module and public end‐user interfaces for the Libraries’ Innovative Interfaces integrated library system (branded KentLINK); assist in configuring a wide variety of other end‐user library research interfaces; and support data loads and data extraction to/from these systems.

 

Duties include:

1. Support and configure the KentLINK Millennium/Sierra modules for Circulation, including Course Reserves, INN-Reach, and Bookings.

2. Manage library scheduling, collection and library moves, temporary closures, and opening of new services points, as required on KentLINK.

3. Manage user account maintenance on KentLINK and related internal systems.

4. Manage large-scale data search, manipulation, load preparation, data offloading, and collection analysis for KentLINK using III tools like Create Lists, SQLViews, and Load Scheduler.

5. Support configuration and maintenance of the public interface of the KentLINK WebPAC.

6. Support and manage UL technical involvement with our third-party off-site storage facility.

7. Support and manage UL technical involvement in OhioLINK initiatives like OHDEP.

8. Liaison with Directory of Circulation Services for circulation systems related requirements or modifications.

9. Liaison with systems developers on behalf of Circulation Services for custom automation projects.

10. Provide backup support for other KentLINK services like Millennium/Sierra Serials, Acquisitions, ERM, and Cataloging.

 

Requirements:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related degree plus 4 years of experience. Or a combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to an Associate degree in IS/CS plus 6 – 7 years of experience including; administering, documenting, monitoring and/or modifying multiple complex IS applications; performing analysis and judgment regarding interdependencies of processes/applications/technologies; providing user support for multiple complex applications; developing complex application requirements.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience administrating an Innovative Millennium or Sierra integrated library system

2. Working knowledge of Millennium/Sierra loan rules, loan rule determiner, statistics groups, and locations served tables

3. ILS support in a multi-campus/multi-location environment

4. Knowledge of circulation services and protocols in an academic library environment

5. Experience with end‐user search interface configuration and programming

6. Experience with databases, data structures, indexing, and querying

7. Experience with a Millennium to Sierra migration

8. Working knowledge of proxy services like EZproxy or WAM

 

The Systems Department employs eight technical staff and several student assistants. It manages the Innovative Interfaces ILS, EBSCO Discovery Services (EDS), ILLiad, and Ares systems for nine campuses; manages 600 PCs in multiple locations; supports three electronic classrooms; provides support for digital initiatives; provides support for the Libraries’ public web presence; and maintains a staff intranet that provides an extensive array of custom library applications developed in‐house by the three full‐time programmers on staff.
