Western Carolina University invites applications and nominations for the position of associate dean of Library Services. The associate dean will be a knowledgeable, experienced, and visionary educator importantly supporting the dean, department heads, faculty, and staff by providing exceptional administrative, operational, and special programs leadership. Requiring a broad understanding of how libraries contribute to the teaching and learning mission of the university, and functioning as the deputy director for library administration, the associate dean will oversee library-wide administrative programs to include: strategic planning; assessment; marketing and communications; facilities planning; external partnerships and outreach; and special initiatives and projects. Requirements

Master’s degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited institution; demonstrated educational leadership experiences, including supervision; successful administrative experiences in an academic, research, or similar library setting; thorough understanding of academic libraries and the ways in which current and emerging technologies are affecting traditional services and collections; exceptional human relations and communication skills; strong commitment to diversity; demonstrated abilities to recruit, develop, and retain a talented staff; expertise in strategic planning and project management; and experience with and knowledge of human resources, assessment, and business and data analysis principles as applied to libraries.
