Description

The Library Corporation is looking for a librarian to fill an Associate Product Owner position.  This person will use their experience working in libraries to formulate and shape library software and services.  The Associate Product Owner will work with a team of existing product owners to design and deliver high quality library software.  The person holding this position will interact with both internal and external stakeholders, including sales and operational staff, current and potential customers, as well as development teams to ensure the successful translation of requirements into high-quality library software.

Duties & Responsibilities
Create and maintain requirement documents for the ILS searching service.
Work with product teams to create, update, and maintain the ILS searching service.
Assist in the process of working with developers to interpret and adapt national cataloging/metadata standards for the purposes of a non-MARC Web-based cataloging interface.
Create and maintain controlled vocabularies for search optimization in library catalogs. Vocabularies can include genres, awards, and other enriched consistent content.
Advise in cataloging and technical services workflows and serve as a library workflow Subject Matter Expert.
Collaborate with stakeholders and customers to define, develop, and refine requirements for existing and new library software services and software.
Review developed functionality and provide ongoing feedback to the development group.
Serve as a liaison to third-party bibliographic record vendors.
Study competitive offerings in the market and anticipate customer needs.
Work with the various departments to assist with product implementation and ongoing product support.
Participate in the company’s product roadmaps processes to identify the short and long term product goals.
Attend departmental meetings and provide input into departmental discussions as applicable.
As necessary, attend annual user conferences.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements
A Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, Knowledge Management, Information Management, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience working with catalog and classification systems, controlled vocabularies, and thesauri creation.
Thorough knowledge of MARC bibliographic and authority metadata standards and practices.
Experience working with an integrated library system, either within a library or with a library software company.
Familiarity with metadata trends in the information industry such as linked data, semantic Web technologies, FRBR, and BibFrame.
Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
An aptitude to visioning a future beyond a product’s status quo
A willingness to work in a team environment.
