This is an exciting time at Towson University, a majority-minority campus with aspirations to become a R2 Carnegie-classified high research activity institution. The library is on an upward trajectory, having grown number of staff and faculty by 8% alongside a 4% collections increase over the last two years. We recently won the 2024 Library Excellence in Access and Diversity (LEAD) Award from INSIGHT into Diversity magazine, the largest and oldest diversity and inclusion publication in higher education. We are very committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) initiatives and expect a new associate dean to have these deep commitments as well. We recently launched our Academic Commons in a newly remodeled space on the main floor of the library. This is a shared initiative between the library, Academic Advising, Retention and Completion, a satellite of Accessibility and Disability Services including the Testing Center, the Tutoring and Learning Center, the Writing Center, and Tech Services for students from our Office of Technology Services.
